Update on my first year of Scouting. My journey from fall 2023 to summer 2024.
I recently finished my First Class rank and I'm waiting for our meetings to restart for my Scoutmaster Conference!
My very first merit badge was Nuclear Science. I enjoyed visiting MSUs Facility for Rare Isotope Beams.
Alpha particles inside a cloud chamber - using Americium-241
Electroscope
Weather merit badge and NWS storm spotter training
Finished up the work on my Fishing merit badge.
Prepared for summer camp with my new rank following the May 2024 Court of Honor for Troop 43 of Holland, MI.
Prepping for a week at Scout Camp in June.
I earned my Swimming merit badge along with Canoeing, Mammal Study, and Fishing over the summer.
So far this year (2024) my Scouting work:
I've finished my "Nature" merit badge and "Pets" merit badge which is currently scheduled for a meeting with a merit badge counselor in late August. I'm also finished with "Dog Care" and most of my "Cooking" (see below). I've spent a lot of hours working on these tasks and I'm very proud of them.
A few photos of the many cooking merit badge meals I've prepared.
I'll take it!
Learning First Aid
I started out in Troop 33 of Hamilton and switched to Troop 43 in Holland after 5 months. It was great to meet new friends and leadership that fit my style best.
Mining in Society- one of my favorite merit badges so far because anything to do with geology was a favorite interest when I was young.
Citizenship in the Nation merit badge work. I ended up going to a full day class at the Gerald R Ford Presidential Museum in late spring.
